The Laboratory of Nature is an education and interpretation centre where different educational, creative and popular science programmes can be held for the general public, particularly for preschool and primary school groups.

The permanent interactive exhibit has an interpretation and educational purpose, in a modernly equipped multifunctional space that can be used for lectures and workshops. In the hallways, children’s artwork can be displayed, and on the thematic playground, various games can be played. At the Amphitheatre, the multimedia system enables screening video content for an outdoor cinema experience.

The exhibition space consists of six special segments, each housing a thematic exhibit. The scenography is inspired by the hollow and wavy tufa rock, as the fundamental phenomenon of Krka National Park.

The main message given by the permanent collection is the need to keep exploring the world we live in, by getting to know and trying out methods of different scientific disciplines and professions that study nature and the relationship humans have with nature.

The six topics covered in the six exhibits are: geology, history, flora, fauna, nature conservation, and the scientific profession. The permanent museum exhibit consists of complex interactive displays, made up of graphical, multimedia and mechanical elements. Every exhibit follows a unique and playful illustrative guide and interpretive wall graphics in the form of mental maps that lead into each thematic topic.

The grounds feature a children’s playground that thematically completes the main message of the centre by expanding it into the outdoor space. The theme of the playground are the native animals that can be found in the Park, and these are the motifs intertwined in the play elements.

The Amphitheatre is an external extension of the Laboratory of Nature, just a five-minute walk along the educational trail. It includes an area for video screening, plays, recitals and similar contact in an amphitheatre-shaped outdoor space. There are stands for spectators, covered with a wooden pergola, and a plateau for presentations with outdoor projection screen. It is fully equipped with a projection screen, sound system, projector, lighting and recording devices.
