Green Eye Festival
We will celebrate the fortieth birthday of the Krka National Park with the Green Eye Festival dedicated to sustainable development
This year’s Green Eye Festival will be held on January 23rd and 24th as part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Krka National Park. This film festival, which combines art, education, and activism, is dedicated to the key themes of sustainable development, ecological stability, and nature conservation.
The Krka National Park, winner of the prestigious Green Destinations gold award for sustainability, wants to emphasise in 2025 the importance of the coexistence of humanity and nature, and to present means for the sustainable management of protected areas. Types of festivals such as “Green Eye” are ideal for conveying such messages, as through the art of film and thematic panels, they develops awareness of global environmental challenges and encourage people to act properly. The educational panels held after the screenings will provide a space for discussion about sustainable development and practical steps leading to ecological stability.
During the two days of the festival, visitors will be able to enjoy five carefully selected films by renowned authors:
- How to Save Our Planet – an introductory short film that will open the festival
- Sanctuary – An exciting documentary about a mission to protect Antarctica
- Wilding – An inspiring story about a young couple who place their bets on nature for the future of their crumbling, four-hundred-year-old estate
- Once You Know – A moving documentary about the climate crisis and possible solutions
- 2040 and Green City Life – Films that explore innovative approaches to a greener future for the planet.
Green Eye Festival (GEF) – Nature Is Watching You, an innovative program launched in 2017, is a combination of film art and environmental awareness, which aims to bring the topics of ecology, environmental protection, and nature conservation closer to a wider audience. As a rare example of a festival initiated by a public institution, GEF stands out by focusing on ecology through the audiovisual arts and accompanying educational activities.
This year, the festival will end on January 24th, the day when the Krka National Park will mark its major aniversary. Together, we will celebrate forty years of preserving the Park’s rich natural and cultural-historical heritage.
